What is the product category field used for?

The Product category field assigns your bundle parent product to a category in Shopify’s Standard Product Taxonomy.

Choosing the most accurate category helps Shopify:

• Calculate product-specific taxes when using Shopify Tax.
• Organize and filter products.
• Support sales channels that use standardized product categories.
• Determine relevant category attributes.
• Review product eligibility and restrictions when using Managed Markets.

This field is optional for most stores. If you leave it blank, Shopify saves the bundle parent product as Uncategorized. The category applies only to the bundle parent product and does not change the categories of the individual products inside the bundle.

For best results, select the most specific category that accurately describes the bundle.
